o was told if you unplug things you dont use everyday like a toaster, a tv in a diffrent room, lamps, pencil sharpeners anything really it will lower your bill cause while these things are not in use they are still absorbing energy. go around your place and unplug things and see how things look on your next bill… thanks for your response to my question. i replyed to it on my question. well i think i did it right.

A central a/c unit is setup to pump so many cfm (cubic feet/minute) into the room. Also, it is designed to return the same amount back to the unit, (through the filter). If you close the door to an air conditioned room, not enough air would be available to return, so the a/c will draw warm air from the outside into the house to equalize the pressure. The same effect occurs from a clogged filter. That's why you should change the filters regularly. My opinion: clean the filters and leave the doors open.

By your question I assume you use electricity to cool your house. By closing the door you will do nothing to lower your electric usage, in fact you might even raise your usage.
The theory you are questioning would be somewhat more effective if you closed off the conditioned air vent in the room you are speaking of. By doing either of these things you will only create a high pressure area in your house or actually in the plenum (which is the large diameter pipe or sheet metal duct coming off the top of the HVAC unit. This high pressure will make your fan work harder to force the air through the ducts. This in fact will use more electricity.
The best solution is to evaluate the house you live in and the area which you live in. in more temperate zones you can use the windows to allow air in while you are home. If that is not practical you might live in an area that gets quite hot during the day and cools at night. If you are in an area such as I just described you might benefit from a product called a whole house ventilator.
The whole house ventilator works by eliminating the heat well that exists in your attic. This heat builds up during the day and radiates heat into your living space into the evenings. Anything you can do to eliminate the build up of heat in your attic will greatly improve the efficiency of your AC unit.
Have your HVAC unit serviced on a regular basis if it is running at peak efficiency for the model you will save money.
