is their a way to cut the power needed to run my computer. I sometimes leave it on overnight becouse some things take long to download.
It should not be that much to run your computer. The main power users in a home are: 1. Refrigerator
2.Washer and dryer
3. Electric heaters
4. Electric ranges
5. Freezers
6. Air conditioners
7. Dish washers
Anything with a heating or cooling element will be a big factor in you electric bill. Things like lights and computers do not use much energy so if you leave it on overnight, do not fret about it for that reason alone.

I asked my electrition the same question.
It im sure use's very little power but I understand that leaves you more vulnerable to hackers and spyware, all that crap.It cann burn out your monitor too even if you have a screen saver.I suggest turning it ALL off.If you are having problems with power or space I suggest cleaning it up.Several differant ways to do that which none of harm any of your pics, programs.Try tools first.Internet options, seet your history to 1 day.clear history, cookies then temporary internet files and ofline content.Run yahoo anti spy.If you don't have it download it.Run Spybot (its great) if you dont have it download it.Go to control panel, select performance and maintenance.click free up space on your computer (called disc cleaner)Clean up (ditch) everything you dont want in yur e mail recyle bin and pictures.Them again control panel, defragment 9that will take awhile if you have a lotta junk but thats good. All of that once downloaded can take about 3 to 5 minutes to run and i do all of that every day (except defragment cause you wont need to)
