I am trying to cut down my electric bill again, and I usually do about 2-3 loads a week. One is towels, the rest clothes. I wash stuff on the cold cycle and throw lights and darks in together usually. What do you do? Does anyone think it is worth it? It’s just me and my bf contributing to the loads………
lol I ALWAYS "set it and forget it," with my laundry…. that is I don’t get them once the buzzer goes off! Funny you mentioned that!

Yes, of course. I don’t like my whites having a blue tinge to them from jeans! Or a pink one from reds!

Nope! I mix everything. The only thing i was seperate is towels and cleaning cloths. But i wash all clothing together. underwear with jeans ETC lol. They come out fine and they dont fade. TIP: if you always wash your clothing with cold water they wont fade easily.

most of the time i separate whites and darks but when i have a small load i do darks and whites together. even in cold water the darks come out fine but the whites are just not quite as fresh looking.

cold water washing is good. your going to end up with odd color clothes if you mix whites and darks.

my advice for the electric bill is exchange your light bulbs to twirly bulbs. for every one of those you’ll save big bucks on the bill. i saved $100 a month by changing all mine.

Yes, I separate lights, darks, towels & jeans. Don’t want to take a chance on ruining my clothes.=)

I always separate. The whites will pick up even small amounts of colors from other clothing and have a dull look. I find that even lighter clothes such as pastel tees and khaki pants can leave traces of light lint on my dark knit tops, like little white dots that you have to try and pick off. Unless your talking dirty dirty like sweaty gym clothes, try doing lights one week and dark the other. Most normal wear clothing can wait unless spotted and need immediate attention. Try just leaving them in the dryer for about 10-15 mins. then hanging to finish drying, this saves a lot of energy and the few mins is usually enough to remove most wrinkles. If you are one of us that sometimes forgets to get your clothes out of the dryer when it goes off, it will be amazing how few wrinkles you will have by this new method
