My new Aiptek Sportcam from Maplin’s strapped to my DIY cyclone kitted electric bike and then my car on the 3 mile commute I do to work. The car just beats the bike but in heavy traffic the bike will win every time. As for the camera if you are looking at the Maplin Aiptek with Sportcam I can recommend it highly. The picture quality is great for the money!

No, the mic on the camera picks up the vibration through the frame, I have a mic pad on it now but really need to find a better place to mount the thing. The motor sound is louder than a hub motor but not so loud that other cyclists hear it when you pass them!

To be honest the 3-4 mile an hour difference is negligible you can usually pedal faster, but I do think having the electric ist is safer. I go easy to work using motor and steady pedalling and hammer it home, I have a 3K steady rising hill to get up which is a big pain on a normal bike and a big bad 2 lane roundabout I need to turn right on. Without the motor I used to get to work dripping, it just makes the commute easier and I think safer, helps you pull away and allows you a rest if needed

Excellent work! Several thoughts: why electric for a shortish journey? Can you find a more pleasant journey via bike? Do you find it less dangerous than a conventional bike? ie roundabouts one of the worst bits statistically for bikes, do you find it’s safer on that last one with more power?
