The cost of the utilities, always seem to be a thing which customers worry about all the time. The utility services are the services which provide us with gas supply and electricity supply. Some companies offer both the utility services while some provide only one of the two. Both the energy sources are getting compliments by increased costs day by day.
The increasing costs are at the same time causing troubles to most of the household budgets. One has to keep a proper check on the usage, in order, to keep the bills to a minimum. Then the services at times, are not of that superior quality. This situations prompt several questions in the minds of most of the users, such as ‘can they change their present energy provider, will it be cheaper than their current provider and will they be charged extra an amount for the switching?’ Well the answer is yes, they can easily switch, and with the various schemes and plans offered, the customer can be benefitted at ease. Moreover, with many great services and offers, new providers are also cropping up in the market. As a result, such a process is creating tough competition to the existing providers. This competition however, is benefiting the users in several ways.
The customer has full right to change their utilities provider. In fact, it is a fast and easy process. The energy companies also try to attract users, who are using the services of other providers, with different offers and various marketing techniques. As such, the users also get attracted toward these schemes and make a switch without any hassles. But before making the switching over, one must get the proper idea of the various schemes and service qualities offered by the other energy suppliers. For switching, one must compare the cost of the services, offered by various energy providers, available in the area. Then one must also keep in mind the quality of services provided by the utility suppliers. However, it would be difficult for an individual to compare these factors as it would involve a lot of data gathering.
In such a situation, you can take the help of various websites which offer all the data to the customers that would be helpful in comparing the services of different companies. Moreover, the customers can also get full details of their preferred would-be switch energy suppliers, with the help of these web sites. There are various utilities provider available in the UK, which provide energy services. Companies like e-on, Scottish Power, British Gas and npower provide both the gas and electricity services to the users. With the help of Internet, one can easily save money by switching to the right energy provider.

Looking to cut back on the electric bill and wondering if anyone has made similar cutbacks and do you know or have an idea what it cut your bill by approximately?
Hello! I am going to list you a few things I do to save money.
Running a full load of dishes in the dish washer saves money on water and the energy used to heat the water. (you use a lot more water doing them by hand!)
Run a FULL load of clothes in the washer, and you can even set it on Hot/Cold instead of Hot/Hot to save a little extra on heating the water. (Or you can set it on Cold/Cold if your clothing permits).
Turn your fridge and freezer up a notch, you need your food to stay cool of course, but you will probably find its a little cooler then it has to be. And if you are worried about something perishable, push it to the back of the fridge where it is colder. (fridge 36-38, freezer 0-5 degrees)
During the winter you can prevent drafts and loss of heat by updating weather stripping or- a cheaper option- check you local hardware store for plastic to cover the windows. It comes in a box with a double sided tape. (sorry I don’t know the name of it) You can cover windows and unused outlets with plastic and seal the perimeter with the tape. It’s a small thing to do but you can prevent loss of that precious hot air you’re paying for.
Unplug cords you are not using
During the winter when I bake something in the oven, I leave the oven open just a crack after it’s turned off. There is lots of heat in there- I might as well use right. It heats the house and keeps the thermostat down for a little while. (may not work for you if you have small children or pets)
instead of charging you cell phone overnight, charge it for an hour or so during the day and unplug the cord.
In the summer, leave windows open when you’re home and try a fan for some cool air instead of the ac.
Do not run a space heater and the heat at full blast simultaneously. If you opt for a space heater, set your heat back a few degrees. This is great if you know you will be chillin’ out in one room for a while.
Change your light bulbs to an energy saving option. If you don’t have a lot of money to spend on light bulbs, try replacing the ones you use the most – for the biggest energy saving impact.
Turn off lights you aren’t using and electronics you are not using.
Replace air filters often. Air conditioners and furnaces work hard to pull air through dirty filters, keeping it clean will allow it to work properly and save you money. (they only cost a few dollars)
If you live in a warm climate area, consider planting a tree near you window for shade during the summer, this could lower the temp in your house a significant deal!
Pick up low-flow shower head for your shower to save on water.

Long before the election, Obama stated that he planned to tax electricity to force Americans to decrease the amount of electricity they use.
This was one of the many reason’s I chose to not vote for him. I do not want to pay more for electricity.
Below is an excerpt from an article on the tax plan that would do this. Odama’s own administrations is now saying that it will be 3 times as expensive as they first said it would. Read the excerpt, or follow the link below to read the entire article and let me know what you think of the idea.
How will you feel about paying one and a half times as much for electricity?
Do you think that this tax is a good idea in these tough economic times?
I look forward to what you have to say.
Here is the article:
Annual utility bills may rise $1,800 under President Obama’s “cap and trade” energy tax plan. That wipes out his pledge of a $800 a year tax cut for 95% of Americans.
The White House admits low-balling the cost in Obama’s official budget, which claimed that his plan would add $646 billion to energy costs over 8 years.
The new price tag is three times as high, close to $2 trillion in 8 years, according to Jason Furman, deputy director of Obama’s National Economic Council. That’s $250-billion each year to be passed along to consumers, equivalent to adding an extra 50% to what the U.S. Department of Energy estimates we spend on energy each year.
A 50% increase on home utilities would average about $150 per month–$1,800 per year–since the average bill is $297 a month according to the White Fence Index. The White House claims it would offset this with an $800 per year household tax credit (and 42% of it would go to those who don’t even pay income taxes. Even with an $800 rebate, the net loss is $1,000 per family per year.

OK… Sunny & Falcon-so what you are saying is that a tax that would increase the cost of electricity by 50% is OK?
Now we are not just talking about the power you use at home. This will also drive up the cost of goods ands services. It will increase the cost of nearly everything.
Things like groceries, healthcare, schooling, and transportation, even the cost of operating the government!
So you think that it is OK to pay higher prices for everything?
And you believe that this would be good for our economy?
Think of all the money that business will have to spend on this tax rather than on hiring new employees and expansion that would create jobs. Hey! Their goes your next raise!
Summer-I am doing something about it. I am fighting it all over the place.
I support the politicians who I think make sense and I write anyone who will listen. I even blog about it to try to raise the publics awareness of what is going on.
If you wish to look at my profile, you will find that I am proud of my stand in the past and do not keep all of my questions and answers private!
For the sake of equality, we got to let King Obama raise whatever he wants to raise. We need to help the poor, so real soon we will all be equally poor. Then we will live happily ever after. Let’s light a scented candle and sing Kumbaya together. That will keep us warm.

You should not be responsible for the old owner – that is between the Power Company and the old owner.
It has absolutely nothing to do with you . . . UNLESS . . . you are a Business partner with them, a relative or have an unpaid bill?
Assoc. Press:
Republicans said the president’s plan to charge fees to industries that spew greenhouse gases amounts to a stealthy tax increase for all Americans that will far exceed the new $400 annual tax cut for workers that he wants to extend beyond 2010.
"The president’s budget increases taxes on every American, and does so during a recession," said Rep. Dave Camp of Michigan, the top Republican on the Ways and Means Committee.
The liberal think tank Center on Budget Priorities and Policy estimated this week that reducing greenhouse gas emissions would cost the poorest families in America $750 per year as higher energy prices ripple through the economy affecting all goods and services. So if the poorest families, who use far less energy than the rest of America, are in a financial hole under the president’s plan, one can easily imagine how the rest of us will end up. Consider the potential consequences on just your electric bill.
"
Obama is not for the poor he will hurt them the most, and the middle classes.
Thanks to Obama your average electric bill is going to increase 2 to 3 fold over the next 20 months. Check with your local Public Utility Commission and you’ll see how every utility retailer has rate case increases underway.
How many people are going to die from freezing to death and how many are going to die from over heated in the American Hot summers, without air conditioning? Obama does not care about Americans and he especially hates the poor who will suffer the most if Obama puts huge taxes on the Utility companies. Obama even says he knows the Utility companies will pass on those taxes to the consumers.
Get ready for huge price increases on everyones Utilities, especially your electric bills. And probably natural gas bills, phone bills, water bills, sewer bills, and more. There isn’t a tax increase that Obama won’t love to go after. He will kill the America Poor first.

Electric power companies are going to have to comply..and as O promised, will pass down the costs… not just on electric, but on gas, water, trash pick up…
Most of the people I know who voted for O, are darn sorry they did!!! The others are just living in la la land
The average family will see a 700-1400 dollar annual increase in their energy costs.
Libs wanted this guy. They got him and they own the actions he takes.
