I am currently planning on taking a physics class at a college next semester with the following description: covering calculus-based mechanics, thermodynamics, vibrations, and wave motion. The student will also perform integrated experiments dealing with the physics of mechanics, thermodynamics, vibrations, and wave motion.

I will already have completed calculus I by the time I start. I was wondering if I would be able to do that and independently study physics C: electricity and magnetism. Do you think it is too much? Will I be able to do them simultaneously? I want to do them both. Your opinion will be appreciated.

calc is applied to wave motion in the context of parabolic measurement between trauff and crest to determine position or velocity of a given particle (for example). calc in relation to therm has do with projecting entropy, rate of molecular expansion given xm+xt=e, and so forth. phys C, you will be studying the relationship between electricity and magnetism. These relationships are governed by differential equations which are calculus based. I think you will find the lab time cumbersome if you try and take both of these courses simultaneously. However, you will need to take advanced calc and 4 dimensional geometry before being able to understand how electromagnetism affects matter at the atomic level. therefore, I would expect that 4D geo and advanced calc would be prerequisites to quantum theory; which the classes you asked about are prerequisites for also.

home wind power kits?

Archived in the category: wind power home

Are there any good do it yourself kits?

Wow! Laurie M is exactly right, and speaks with great wisdom. Wind power is really tricky, and requires expert knowledge from initial design to pouring the concrete. Besides, there are few places in the country where the average wind is really high enough to give you useful power, and yet calm and predictable enough to keep from destroying costly equipment.

Solar is much more practical if you must have an alternative source of electricity. Much easier to design and develop a workable system at home. In any case, unless you have a really good knowledge of electrical and mechanical things, you will need expert help. Your state government, or that of an adjoining state, probably has an alternative energy or solar energy center that has a web site. That will be your starting point. If you can’t find them, call your county agricultural extension agent.

Good luck!

NOTE: "Gabe" went a little over the top. Any homeowner with basic DIY skills can do much of the work involved in installing a solar/inverter/battery system, with some help from the manufacturers and your local electrical inspector.

Electrical engineers are indispensable, but don’t let one intimidate you into thinking you can’t do a job like installing solar panels. They are heavy, but not all THAT heavy. Any normal truss or rafter and deck roof will handle the weight. If some extra bracing is needed, any well-adjusted carpenter will know it, and can do it.

I have a science education and a lifetime of experience remodeling houses. So when I retired, I built my own passive solar house with a solar/inverter/battery system, and it all works great. I developed a good relationship with the county electrical inspector, and followed manufacturers’ specs and recommendations, and it all went together like a dream.

Well, long story short. Roomates screwed me and my husband over and skipped out on the $800 electric bill that THEY ran up.
Can’t get them to pay.
Husband laid off.
Baby 5 weeks old.
If I don’t get $520 by today they are coming to cut it off. I live in Oklahoma and it is FREEZING here!!! The high for tomorrow is 26 in my area!!! I called them, I can’t make a payment plan because they said I was too late to make one. So can they cut it off? I heard they couldn’t if you had a baby, or if the high for the day was below freezing and electricity is your primary source of heat. I don’t know what to do and I won’t have that money for a long time.

Contact the Oklahoma Department of Human Services immediately. The link provides phone numbers for charitable assistance depending on which utility company you have.;
