On August 24, 1992 hurricane Andrew landed in Homestead, Florida laying a path of destruction as it moved through the state. This was the worst storm to hit the area in over 30 years, and many of the people living in the area were new to the region and never had experienced a storm like this before.
The Category four hurricane hit with winds gusting to speeds of 175 miles per hour, and swells reaching 17 feet in height along the coast. The storm destroyed property and left as many as 250,000 people homeless. Sixty Five people died as a result of the storm, and many more suffered injuries.
The damage left in the wake of the hurricane was devastating. The ferocious storm destroyed or damaged an estimated 600,000 homes and businesses. Water and wind damage were in evidence all over. A great many of the homes located in this area were small mobile homes, and virtually all of them where reduced to rubble. Local roads and highways received damage, and all major utilities experienced major interruptions of service. Local residents of the area were, in some cases, without power, water or, sewage for as much as six months. The Florida coast was also home to many boats and water craft and insurance claims for damage to these craft amounted to millions.
The social impact of this storm was far-reaching. Many families left the area to rebuild their lives in safer and less volatile locations. A huge effort was made by local authorities and emergency service agencies to provide better methods and technology for the detection, and tracking of such storms. The one good thing that happened as a result of this storm was that it motivated the locals to better prepare themselves for the future.
The economic consequences of this hurricane were felt far and wide. After the storm almost one and a half million people where left without power, some for as long as 6 months. Businesses could not operate or had to move to temporary facilities in an effort to rebuild and recover lost revenues. Many businesses lost financial records, and data that were crucial to the company’s operations. The total damage from the storm was estimated at approximately 26 billion dollars.
The residents of the state of Florida where ill prepared for a hurricane of this magnitude. Many were of a generation that had never before experienced such devastation, since the last major storm to hit the area occurred some 30 years before. The need to take precautions in an effort to limit the effects of a natural disaster is essential. Many insurance companies now offer discounted rates to companies that include disaster planning into their standard business plans. It is not possible to be too well prepared.

He came to the conclusion that along with Life-instinct ( known as Eros ) man had apparently a powerful Death-instinct ( known as Thanatos ) which manifested itself as Self-hate & aggressive behaviour. He showed that not all accidents were really accidents. The accident-proneness of the victims produced by the unconscious death wish they had cherished was the cause behind some accidents. Research has indicated enough evidence for vicious & insidious forms of self-hate in man. We can understand how self-hate operates on the level of the Unconscious if we observe the way many people abuse their own stomachs, lungs & other vital organs, and the way some people bring ruin upon themselves by yielding to drug addiction & alcoholism. This self-hate acts as an inhibiting factor for most individuals. Success can be achieved, said Dr Maxwell Maltz, if this inhibitive factor is removed from the mind. Most people are unaware of it & drift through life unaware of the self- harm they do. Some of them wake up from this unconscious drifting and begin to have a new attitude – an attitude of love, friendliness and peace towards themselves & their brethren.It actually indicates the dawn of true love for one’s higher Self known as the Atman.
Thanatos was known in Vedanta as Thamas ( the destructive element in man ). Thamas is destructive and self-destructive. By yogic sadhana alone can this Thamas or Thanatos be destroyed.

and manufacturers are pushing LCD computer monitors hard.
Rough price comparison – at present, you can expect to pay $200 for a reasonable 19-in LCD flat screen monitor, $250 for a 21-in CRT.
A 19-in LCD is the best size for all day users. Price differences shoot up with size though, a 24-in LCD can cost over $700! However the
natural resolution on an LCD screen goes up with size, and prices can be expected to fall as output increases.
A further point is that LCD panel screen monitors use a lot less power, so you can recoup spending over time and avoid wasting energy.
If you’re worried about the environment, LCD screens cannot be dumped owing to theirliquid crystal content. They can be recycled,
and a fee is usually charged.
Check your local laws and agencies for information on this.

I want to buy Solar power system or Wind Energy System for my home, What are the recommendations? If somebody has used it , please tell me about it.
Well it all depends on where you live, if you're out in the country, wind power may make more sense for you, if you're in the city solar is the way to go. With a solar electric system there are no moving parts so it lasts a long time, it pays for itself depending on where you live i have heard of getting money back in three years. If you finance it very often the payments are less than your electric bill. The only maintenance is hosing it down once in a while. I also recommend looking into geothermal, especially if you have a decent sized backyard, its actually the cheapest option, and if you have plenty of space out back its even cheaper. Depending on where you live the payback differs, in the US, we happily now all receive a 30% tax credit, that helps cut the price. there are also other programs pretty much in every state by now. Out here in California, its state mandated for the utility companies to offer a rebate.

C. Wind and solar power are inefficient and too expensive to use and maintain.

A is the best of your four, for your question, but since individual wind and solar power generate power to a battery, which is the direct source of power to your house, you can store up enough power to maintain your electrical usage, through the winter, power outages, and you can sell some access back to the Community Power Company.
If enough households demand an individual windmill and solar panel, the initial costs will come down to reasonable expense!!
My sister thought she had the money to pay the power bill, but when she checked her bank account balance this evening she found that she was overdrawn. Is there any law in the state of Georgia (United States) that prohibits an electric company from cutting off your power. Weather it be in the winter, or regularly.
You'll need to check through the Public Utility Commission. Usually you can enter in to a payment plan to avoid shutoff. She may also check with local service agencies like Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul or local churches to see if she can get help with her power bill. Having a 6 month old child may not be enough to qualify for keeping the power on, usually there has to be some sort of medical reason, with something from a doctor, but check with the PUC in your state.
There may be other programs she qualifies for, like energy assistance, so check with local agencies as soon as possible.
